DESCRIPTION:
We introduce vocabulary about healthy food with flash cards or toys playing games with them. (15 minutes)
Then we introduce some healthy ingredients: tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, cheese, ...and
The teacher shows the students how to prepare a tea cucumber sandwich (the recipe is included at the bottom of the page), and we explain that is a typical sandwich that British have at teatime.
Then we choose a volunteer to prepare a different sandwich. (This student is going to be a robot and the rest of the students are going to give the robot instructions about how to make the sandwich correctly. (15 minutes).
We can repeat the activity with some students if we have time.
After that the children are going to work in groups to make the best tea sandwich they can. Each group will have a card with two healthy ingredients that must be included in their recipe. (15 minutes)
The sandwich must be creative. (we can plan this type of activity by Halloween so they can create a scary sandwich)
Then each group will explain the recipe to their partners (15 minutes)
RECIPE/s: CUCUMBER TEA SANDWICH
INGREDIENTS
2 Slices of bread
Cheese cream
Lemon juice
Salt
Black pepper
Slides cucumber
Fresh herbs
STEPS TO MAKE A CUCUMBER TEA SANDWICH
1.Lay two slices of bread flat and spread with cream cheese
2. Cover one side
of the sandwich with sliced cucumber
3. Season with a
squeeze of lemon juice, salt, pepper and fresh herbs
4. Cover the
cucumbers with the other slice of bread, cream cheese side down
5. Cut the sandwich
diagonally twice to create four triangular finger sandwiches.
6. Serve and enjoy!
