SCHOOL YEAR: 3RD ESO 

SUBJECT: English

TOPIC: WRITING A RESTAURANT REVIEW (YOU CAN ALSO WRITE THE MENU)

 Estimated TIME/SESSIONS: 3 sessions 

-One session to explain the task (including how to write on padlet). 

− Another session to allow students to write the review on the padlet. 

− A third one to watch a video and work with vocabulary and recipes.

LESSON OBJECTIVES: 

• To persuade readers to visit or to avoid a particular food establishment. • To provide balanced criticism and vivid descriptions using the vocabulary and grammar given in class.                                              • To invite readers to experience the restaurant's atmosphere and cuisine for themselves. 

CONTENTS/SKILLS: Cooking skills 

• Increase basket value as consumers become more familiar with cooking processes and through upselling. E.g. fresh herbs versus dried  

• Increase students confidence in their cooking abilities, opening up opportunities to explore different cuisines

DESCRIPTION: Writing a restaurant review is a great way to share your excitement about a favorite restaurant. So I invite my students to write about their favourites. 

They will include the name of the restaurant, the type of restaurant, location, opening hours, types of food including special dishes (starter, main course, side dish & dissert), atmosphere and recommendation


On the other hand, they will watch a video about how to make a fantastic pizza. 



Students will do a previewing activity, first and second viewing in order to improve the listening skill. Then we work with vocabulary and content of the video.

RECIPE/s (needed for the activity): WATCH A VIDEO to learn how to make a fantastic pizza.

MATERIALS: Students can prepare the pizza at home following video’s instructions. Then they will share the photograph in Teams
