5. When the word is given, group members take turns running to their paper, memorizing part of the Running Dictation, running back to their group and dictating the next part of the recipe to their partners. They should repeat the process until they reach the word “switch”, at which point they must rotate positions (one student “runs and dictates”, another “listens and writes”, and another gets a little rest).

6. When the group finishes copying the Running Dictation they must then use linguistic cues and logic to put the recipe in-order by numbering each of the steps of their recipe.

7. At this point, the group should check in with the instructor to be sure that they have organized their recipe correctly. OPTIONAL: The instructor can give different toppings to the group or groups that finish first!

8. Once a group has confirmed that their recipe is correct, they are to follow the directions and make Rice Krispy Treats together.

9. At the end of the class period, the Rice Crispy Treats will be judged on appearance, taste and texture. Extra points will be given for cleanliness, great group work, appropriate volume, display, etc. Winners will take home a prize!

10. Groups turn in their worksheet “Rice Crispy Treats Running Dictation” for evaluation at the end of the session.
