- Learn and use vocabulary related to cooking and food.
- Write a recipe and learn how to follow it.
- Value healthy food.
CONTENTS/SKILLS:
- Vocabulary of cooking: verbs, utensils and food
- Imperative and modal verbs.
- Connectors of sequence
DESCRIPTION:
Session 1:
We will start by revising vocabulary related to cooking: cooking verbs, utensils, food. We will also revise the Imperative, modal verbs CAN, MUST, HAVE TO, SHOULD and the connectors of sequence (First, then..etc)

Then, the students in groups of 3-4 will search on the Internet for a healthy microwave recipe (they can use the school laptops or their own mobile phone).
Finally, they will have to write the recipe using the vocabulary and grammar learnt. They will follow this model:
Session 2:
In this session the students will prepare their recipes in class. They will bring the ingredients and the cooking utensils they need. We will have 2 microwaves in the class for them to use. They will have 25 minutes to do it.
Then, once ready,
they will have to present their dish to the rest of the class and finally we
will try all the dishes and vote for the best one.
RECIPE/s :
MAC & CHEESE
INGREDIENTS:

Half
a cup of Macaroni pasta

¼
cup of water

Milk
-
A
handful of Cheese
-
A
small scoop of Flour
-
Salt
HOW TO DO IT:
- - First, combine half a cup of pasta, 1/4 cup of water, and
salt in a bowl.
- - Then, microwave for 6 minutes, stirring every 2
minutes, and adding another 1/4 cup of water after the first 2 minutes.
- - Once the pasta is done, add in enough milk
to cover the pasta, a handful of cheese, and a small scoop of flour to help
thicken the mix.
- - Finally, Stir and cook for another 30
seconds.
Your MAC & CHEESE is ready. Enjoy it!
This
quick meal will provide plenty of calcium to help maintain proper bone health.
