SCHOOL YEAR: 4th grade
SUBJECT: Natural Sciences
TOPIC:
Interaction: The Senses
Estimated TIME/SESSIONS: 2 sessions
LESSON OBJECTIVE: Use the senses.
CONTENTS/SKILLS: The senses.
DESCRIPTION:
· Divide the classroom into five different corners (one place for each sense) to do the activities.
· Divide
the students into five groups. Each group starts in one area. The groups change
places after 15 minutes.
· Explain
to the class that they are going to test their senses.
· Point
out that each group will have a limited time (15 minutes) in each corner or station.
· Demonstrate
what to do in each area.
o Sight corner: “Solve different jigsaw puzzles about food”. Pay attention to the colours and shapes! (Look at the pictures at the end of this document).
o Smell corner: “Guess the food”. You must use the nose. (We need opaque jars with lid. We make holes in the lid and then put different foods inside the jars).
o Hearing corner: “Sounds like...” The students have to listen to different sounds. In these sounds, someone eats food. Can you guess the food by listening to these sounds?
o Touch corner: “Do you know me?” Put different kitchen utensils in a dark bag. Use one bag for each utensil. The students must guess the utensil by touching it. They can´t look inside the bag.
o Taste corner: “Delicious!... or not” Eat different foods and say the taste (sweet, salty, bitter, sour). Try to guess the food too.
