WE COOK OUR DINNER (PIADINA)

Shared by Elena Regaño:

SCHOOL YEAR: 5º-6º EP (bilingual CRIE)
SUBJECT: FOOD TECHNOLOGY

TOPIC: COOKING

Estimated TIME/SESSIONS: 1 hour 40 minutes

CONTENTS/SKILLS: Teamwork, initiative, measurements, creativity.

DESCRIPTION:

The students are required to fulfil the specifications for cooking today’s own dinner: Piadinas.

Everyone wears their own apron and meet at the CRIE kitchen.

Groups are made.

Each group has a table to work on.

The teacher explains:

- What they are supposed to do: cooking their own dinner for tonight.

-What piadinas are and from where (typical flat bread from Italy).

-Instructions for the activity (speak in English, don’t waste food, cooperate with the team, clean up, etc.).

Each group decides/plans what they want to fill their piadinas with. If someone has any allergy or food intolerance, they have to take it into account to elaborate another option (gluten free, halal,…).

The needed ingredients are displayed on a worktop at the kitchen.

Only one person of each team is allowed to go to take the ingredients. The rest of the group stays at their table. The same for using the iron or pans.

 They start elaborating the dish.

When they finish, they tidy up and enjoy their own dinner!
